don’t you love it when some ppl live blog about arc-v, they’re like easy going with the side characters then nope when it comes to yuuya they go full critique mode on him like it doesn’t make sense at all lmao

chromsai:

yeah honestly this doesn’t even make me that mad because like i get it, he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and honestly i can appreciate that critique if it’s from a holistic point of view of his character, but yeah the majority of times i see people complaining aboutĀ ā€œomg he’s just egao egao egaoā€ and as i said i’m done being mad at those people because clearly they’re not willing to look past how he’s marketed (being a happy-go-lucky entertainer) which is ironic seeing as the entire point of his character development is showcasing how he’s not at all like that by natureĀ and that in fact he strives to be like that for the sake of others, when deep down he’s always struggling to surpass himself because he’s awareĀ of how selfish he can be and he wants to constantly work on improving that and be able to not only understand others’ points of views on life, but to be able to communicate with them on theirĀ grounds while still upholding his values so he can work together with others to make everyone happy. if people would just pay attention to him more, they’d understand his story is one of compromise, where he meets his friends, foes, and others in the middle and work together with them for the better of all (hell, all of the summoning methods that the other Yuus represent allude to this, and they all ended up being a part of him in the end).

again, this is ironic because there were certain characters that he knew even heĀ wouldn’t be able to convince with his entertainment dueling, but his point was that as long as he can make as many people as he can happy, then that’s enough for him.

so, again, i’m not even mad. because if they can’t understand yuya’s fight, well there’s not much he or i can do about it. in life, no matter how much you try to please everyone, there’s always gonna be at least one person who doesn’t like you, and you have to learn to live with that and look at the positives instead. out of all of us that watched arc v, i will bet you he made more of us happy than pissed us off or so.Ā

besides, this doesn’t surprise me one bit. director ono himself claimed that he was notĀ an easy character to write. and i admire that because his character arc is honestly amazing to watch. like it or not, he had development from start to finish. i love that so much because idk about you but personally, i’m always constantly changing. it made him feel realer than most of the characters i’ve ever watched; a real life person isn’t gonna be liked by everyone so i honestly see it as a good thing that he’s not universally loved (lmao fuck tha haters šŸ˜Ž). yuya may have been this or that to you, but he certainly wasn’t static.

If that doesn’t convince you that Action Duels are cool, nothing will. Seriously we got to see some awesome airborne stints as Kurosaki and his ace keep dodging Sora’s monster effect till he finds an action card to cancel it. And it made me realize that Action Duels aren’t justĀ ā€œnew, awesomeā€ way to duel. Like as much as I loved Riding Duels, I always wondered why do it at all. Sure the monsters are moving with you but it doesn’t change the game play. But Action Duels shows so much more versatility in their actions and how well you do is also determined by your thinking and physical ability. It must really justified why Action Duel was so loved in universe.Ā

Also how did Rise Falcon do so many dodges? Was it programmed. Are monster’s ai give different levels of intelligence.Ā

The level of foreshadowing and sheer intensity of this duel..

This is hitting too close to home here. While Yu-Gi-Oh! was never afraid of dangling death as a consequence, very rarely is there collateral. Death is nearly always a spiritual thing ala losing your soul and a way to get back to normal. But hereĀ there is real damage and while it’s just hard light being destroyed, a town is still being burned to the ground as two duelists are in a death match. It just gives a sense of reality and horror.Ā
