Eric, on a stage, with a microphone, who is never afraid to go up to someone tell them exactly what he thinks and doesn’t have anxiety: I HAVE ANXIETY SO I CAN’T TALK TO PEOPLE THAT WELL OKAY I HAVE A PROBLEM AND YOU HAVE TO RESPECT THAT

Kyle: You don’t have anxiety, get over it.

Y’all: YO CAN WE COPYSTRIKE KYLE BROFLOVSKI???

ivanthetrashbag:

People keep talking about how Matt and Trey don’t know what anxiety is.

I’m pretty sure the whole thing about anxiety being a thing for people to act out on is literally just so Eric can be an entitled asshole. Also, the therapist is from South Park. Any “educator” from South Park doesn’t know shit about what they talk about, so everyone basically has the wrong idea about a big problem.

Also Kyle’s speech was designed to try and get Eric off his high horse. “Everyone has anxiety” is to make Eric not special and to throw the box away, like how it had always worked. “I’m not special? Well, fuck this!!” Thing is, it backfired. I’m positive Kyle was talking about the smaller spectrum of anxiety because some people do just “get over it”. And let’s be honest, when you’re pissed, you don’t really fact check yourself in the moment. ESPECIALLY if you’re talking to an entitled asshole.

So, this episode was most likely written to fuel Eric’s ego and some people do fake anxiety, it doesn’t make people with anxiety less but the understanding of it gets taken to a point where it’s not a mental disability anymore.

Still loved the episode, though.
