Y’all have a lot of nerve saying that immigrants are going to destroy “your” culture by simply existing with their different religions, languages, customs, food, etc. as if Europe and the US haven’t actively gone to countries and regions all over the world and literally destroyed their culture by toppling their governments, killing their citizens, bringing in destructive corporations that drain their resources and force them out, and purposefully stomping out their languages, religions, and traditions.

If you would report an undocumented immigrant to ICE you would have reported me to the Nazis and I don’t fucking trust you

A note:

I live in a state where you “have to” report anyone you suspect of being undocumented (that wonderful hellhole of Arizona). Now in practice this law has fallen far short, thank goodness. But if you live in such a place and they start enforcing it, here is how you get around it:

Assume everyone who doesn’t speak English is visiting.

Never ask about their job, because if they tell you they work here then you know they’re not visiting. You see them a lot for several weeks or months? Hm. Someone in the family must be ill. That’s terribly tough. They always dress in old, ratty laborers’ clothes? I feel you, my dude, I can’t afford new clothes either, and my dad has the fashion sense of an aardvark, so sometimes it’s not even about “affording” them. They say they’ve been here for years? You must have misunderstood. Spanish isn’t your first language, after all. First and last name? It never came up, or you don’t recall–you meet a lot of people.

And then, if you’re asked: no, you haven’t seen anyone residing illegally in the United States. Just people visiting.

Very good very important addition

“Well, maybe they shouldn’t come here illegally.”

I’ve seen this phrase used a number of times in response to outrage over the handling of migrants at the border, i.e. detention camps, putting people in cages and tents, separating children from their families, and so on.

I want to make one thing crystal clear: when you say that, you’re using the language of abusers. It is akin to:

  • She wouldn’t have been harassed if she didn’t dress like a whore,
  • If she didn’t want to get raped, she shouldn’t have drank so much,
  • The other kids wouldn’t pick on him if he weren’t such a pussy,
  • I wouldn’t have to beat her if she didn’t talk to that other guy,
  • He wouldn’t have been shot if he didn’t break the law,
  • If she were more trustworthy, I wouldn’t have to monitor her communication,
  • If she was keeping his money from him, he should have left the relationship. He needs to own his decisions.

This is called victim blaming. It is abuse.

The truth is that America can enforce its borders without violating human rights and treating other people as subhuman. The federal government, and by that I mean the executive branch and its agencies under President Trump, does not need to execute the law in the way it’s doing. It chooses to do so proactively.

Stop the abuse, stop the language of abuse.

Good day,

Tom

All these people commenting ‘no one forces them to cross the border’, ‘they are criminals and should be treated as such’, etc are full of BULLSHIT. This is no longer just an immigrant issue, you ignorant citizens that have no way of knowing what it is to live in a country ruled by fear and economic instability that the U.S helped cause (may I remind you). This is now a HUMAN RIGHT ISSUE, if y’all haven’t noticed. But hey, apparently Americans have gotten so used to treating other humans that aren’t their ‘own’ like shit they don’t see a problem with dehumanizing other people (including children) anymore. I mean, look at its history. (And this is a fact; don’t you dare come to me as an Anon and try to tell me otherwise.)

“Well, maybe those other countries should fix their problems. It’s not our fault they face violence.”

Are you kidding me. You think they aren’t trying? The people fight=they are shut down by the government through force. A govervent that the U.S had a hand in helping come to power. No one told the U.S they had to mendle with Latin American countries and mess them up, and yet
here we are.

Stop dehumanizing other people. Stop acting like this should be the norm. Stop the abuse, and also, stop being hypocrites; you think your blood is a 100℅ American? Face it, ‘American’ is a nationality. Stop treating others like they are beneath you just because their lives aren’t as lucky as your own.
