Sandbox Tree (Hura Crepitans) is all too real for the scores of Central
and South American farmers who’ve had their cattle injured by these
explosive plants. Upon ripening, the fruit of the Sandbox tree
will explode like a botanical hand-grenade carrying seeds up to 40m at

Trees
can split rocks when the roots find their way into small cracks. As the
root grows, it forces the crack to open little by little. This crack
also allows water to enter, where the freeze/thaw cycle will force it
open more. Eventually, even large boulders will give way and split
entirely. (Source)
