Everyone knows they are a couple. Itâs a thing. If one of them is arrested the first point of action is figuring out where the other one is.
Oswald starts wearing the top-hat to look taller – which Edward counteracts by starting to wear heels
They go out on dinner dates a lot. Other peoples âdinner and a movieâ is their âdinner and armed robberyâ
Bickering like an old married couple is standard procedure but the thing that makes people even more uncomfortable is the fact that these arguments will always end with a âbecause you love meâ and extended eye fucking.
Oswald was a little self-concious when he started to gain weight but Edward made it very clear that he does not mind and intends to shoot everyone who does in the knee
While bickering, theyâll still play the âyou killed meâ and âyou killed my girlfriendâ card but at this point the details got a little muddy like, âAre you sure she wasnât called Isabell? Are you sure Edward?â
Harvey is weirdly happy for them and whenever someone calls him out on it he goes âSomeone around here has to have a healthy, stable relationship and since it sure as hell ainât me or you it might as well be themâ
They wouldnât admit it if anyone asked but they do visit the pier on their anniversary now and then and make some good memories to override the bad ones. Ed always loved the view, after all.
Despite what people may think, they are really good for each other. Oswald reminds Edward to take his medication and calms him down when heâs anxious. Edward rubs Oswalds leg when it hurts and keeps his temper in check.
Jim got an invite for the wedding. As in: Someone put a bag over his head and dragged him to the church where a priest was held at gun point. Oswald welcomed his âold friendâ heartily and declared him best man.
#this scene had that supposedly *humorous* tone cause of the contrast between them at the moment #but this was truly so gd heartbreaking in so many ways and the angst just kept flooding after that #Ed already being right in the middle of a paranoid crisis therefore thinking Oswald would instantly give him to the police #if he was sharing his plans regarding Jim with him #Ed looking confused and so uncomfortable when he realizes that Oswald isnât there anymore even if heâs standing in flesh before him #realizing that the mind of the only other human being he was able to share with and could trust is gone cause of what Arkham has done to him #Ed fearing for himself if Oswald was gonna report him fearing he could end up being brainwashed and what he considers to be a vegetable #losing his intelligence aka the thing he treasures the most in his personality but also losing the new identity heâs starting to build #even thinking until the very end of the thing while he was getting caught and that it was over for him that Oswald did give him to Jim #that it was the only logical explanation on how Jim would have succeeded into beating him #now letâs talk about Oswald who got kicked out Edâs appartment the only person left he thought he has a connection with and could turn to #maybe even giving him a home once again like Ed had done earlier when he was badly injured #leaving after having been not so politely dismissed and rejected but still broadly smiling at Ed until he shut the door to his face #probably reflecting onto that once he was all alone trying to figure out what heâs done wrong while his mind canât even go there anymore #except via his guilt #probably thinking heâs just a burden to people whoâs embarrassing them more than anything else but that he deserves it in every single way #Oswald walking in the cold and the rain of Gotham reflecting on Gertrudâs grave on how alone he is and how his mother is dead because of him #lbr here I have too many feelings and not enough tags for this (@witchunters)
I was PHYSICAL HURT by this scene and the fact the two of them never met up again for the rest of the season, instead continuing to harbour god knows how many misconceptions about each other and each otherâs opinions of them as laid out so BEAUTIFULLY IN THESE TAGS UGH!
Their scene in Arkham next season was a BALM TO MY SOUL like, I canât even TELL YOU
Yes, the Riddler manifesting himself here (=Ed bringing himself down) to tell Ed that heâs naive to trust Oswald, that he canât have any sort of emotional bond with anyone, and only have him(self) to count on as to preserve himself is just the continuity of Edâs paranoia crisis in this moment. The Riddler knew he needed Oswald at the time so Ed could âprogress*, but he wasnât obviously very thrilled by Edâs emotional attachment to Oswald.
We can also assume that once Oswald got Ed out of Arkham, the Riddler didnât manifest cause he simply didnât need to, Ed didnât need him anymore (or the other way around, depending on how you/the writers think D.I.D works, ugh..). That part of Ed was at peace and was finally trusting Owald and accepted the fact that he was gonna be part of Edâs life for good and he was okay with that. Which is why where the Riddler was being possessive with Ed before naturally transferred/turned into Ed acting that way with Oswald, and why the things Ed did to protect Oswald and keep him all to himself were extreme when he has wanted to prove that he and only himself could be a valuable asset for Oswaldâs well-being, and that only the two of them could share this special and unique connection (no homo though).
After all the shit storm we all know about, the miscommunication and misunderstandings between those continues to this day. Ed would rather die than admitting to Oswald that he had missed him, drugged himself, fantasized about him, and went nuts and out of control without him (the only one knowing about this so far is Lucius when he was forced to play the role of Edâs shrink when Ed had confessed and admitted that to himself when he was high). And Oswald has his own pokerface as a protection for himself so he wouldnât let Ed know he still loves him even after Ed shot him, and to prove heâs not a slave of his emotions like he accused him to be.
personal hypothesis: Ed never fractures when heâs with Oswald because Oswald is accepting of both the light and dark parts of him. Therefore, he never feels the need to compartmentalize the deviant parts of himself into a separate persona.
I love this theory so much! I think a perfect moment to showcase this is when Ed hands Oswald his itineraries for the day in 3×06. One for his mayoral duties and the other his criminal ones. Ed felt so at ease and comfortable in that role and he was great at it! Plus, Ozzie gave him all the positive reinforcement he needed and wanted.
do y’all remember that cory interview where he said that if oswald confessed sooner (and/or Isabella wasnt involved), ed would have probably returned the feelings? does anyone have a link im feeling like Dying
âI know this songâ, Oswald comments appreciatively, fingers tapping on the table.
Ed knows the song too. Amy Winehouse. âWake Up Aloneâ. Ed knows itâs one of Oswaldâs favourites. He didnât used to care for it but the memories the song is causing to surface in his brain (and the sensations in his body) are far from unpleasant. It used to be Ed would brush the feelings off as a side effect of the pills he used to take but not anymore. He doesnât have to.
Not now that he has the real thing to enjoy.
âSing to meâ.
Oswald raises an eyebrow as he hears Edâs words. He knows instinctively itâs not a question. Itâs a command.
Oswald glances around self consciously but his eyes are instantly drawn back to Edâs hand moving to rest over his.
âNobodyâs looking or listeningâ, Ed says quietly, âItâs just us. You and meâ.
âAlwaysâ, Oswald sighs as Ed reaches up and runs a hand through his hair. He melts into the sensation, his wariness swiftly fading, overpowered by desire.
Edâs right. Nobody else in the Lounge is paying attention to them. Theyâre too busy making their own fun and Oswald has ensured his and Edâs private booth is far away from prying eyes.
âI love it when my birdy singsâ, Ed teases, âHe gets a treat if he doesâ.
Oswald licks his dry lips, painting them a glistening pink and begins to sing along with the music.
âHeâs fierce in my dreams, seizing my guts He floats me with dreadâ.
Ed moves closer to Oswald, deliberately invading his space. He smirks as he sees Oswaldâs lip curl as he realises Ed is trying to throw him off. Oswald decides two can play this game.
âSoaked in soul, he swims in my eyes by the bedâ, Oswald sings, running a lean finger down Edâs cheek and tickling his chin.
Ed grabs hold of the offending finger and latches on to it with his teeth, sucking hard. Oswaldâs breath hitches and he canât suppress a longing whimper. He decides the best form of defence is attack.
Ed gasps as Oswald suddenly grabs hold of his crotch beneath the table. Oswald gets onto his knees on the booth seat and crawls towards Ed.
âPour myself over himâ, Oswald growls as he begins to straddle Ed, looking down at him with half hooded, glittering, pale eyes. Ed leans back to get a better view, swallowing hard as he realises Oswald is just as hard as he is.
âMoon spilling inâ, Oswald sings, tilting his head back as if in the grip of ecstasy.
Ed watches a bead of sweat trace its way down a blue vein on Oswaldâs pale neck and his hips buck automatically beneath Oswald, jolting him forward. Oswald recovers well, catching himself on Edâs shoulders. He leans in close and Ed can feel the strength in Oswaldâs fingers gripping his shoulders like a bird of prey. Ed feels like heâs going to drown in those sea green eyes as they gaze deep into his. He loves this. Loves being in Oswaldâs thrall.
âAnd I wake up-â Oswald whispers, his warm breath ghosting over Edâs flushed cheek.
Oswald doesnât get to finish before Ed yanks him down into a fierce, hungry kiss. Heâs ready for a different kind of music.
