A common staple of modern horror and science fiction/fantasy media are the undead human corpses known as zombies, which find their origins in Haitian folklore as the ā€œzombiā€ or ā€œzonbiā€ that serve as mindless drudges to the will of a sorcerer. The sorcerer or ā€œbokorā€ in the traditional Vodou religion is a necromancer, who supposedly can place a living person under a spell, turning them into a zombi using a combination of deliriant drugs such as datura, and a powerful nerve agent called tetrodotoxin, in powdered form.

TTX is a highly dangerous neurotoxin that acts to block the passage of sodium ions into the neurons, preventing them from carrying nerve signals and effectively stopping the muscles from being able to move in response to nerve inputs. This paralysis extends to all voluntary muscles including the diaphragm and the muscles between the ribs, thus shutting down breathing often with fatal results.
There is no specific antidote for human use, but if the dosage is sufficiently mild and the patient survives for 24 hours after exposure, recovery is possible with little or no lasting damage.

If this looks confusing, that’s because it is. However, the modeling is accurate.

Clinton Road begins at Route 23 near Newfoundland, in New Jersey, and runs 10 miles towards Upper Greenwood Lake. However, this isn’t any regular road. In fact, it’s said to be one of the most haunted roads in the world. The road is rife with much folklore and legends surrounding the paranormal. Furthermore, it is said that many strange creatures gather in the area surrounding this road as well as witches, satanists, and the Ku Klux Klan.

One legend says that if you stop at the bridge over ā€œDead Man’s Curveā€ and put a quarter in the middle of the road at midnight, the ghost of a young boy will appear to return the quarter to you. Allegedly, this ghost is of a little boy who drowned after falling off the bridge. There are many other deaths associated with Clinton Road. One more infamous case took place in 1983, when a dead body was discovered. An autopsy revealed ice crystals in the blood vessels of the victim. This victim was later attributed to Richard Kuklinski, the infamous ā€œIceman.ā€

Another legend tells of a young woman driving a ghost camaro. This young woman was said to have crashed in 1988 and can reportedly be spotted only at night. This isn’t the only phantom vehicle which haunts Clinton Road, however. Many people have reported even witnessing headlights that aren’t attached to any vehicle speeding down the road while others claim to have seen ghostly park rangers lurking around the lonely road.

The ghost boy at the bridge

Hi. Have you heard of the very recent events going on in Puerto Rico, regarding a Gargoyle-like creature? Well, it happens like this: some farmers wake up to their chicken dead, all their blood drained through holes which are punctured in the neck and chest. It is not the Chupacabra, as the creature was reportedly seen by a local, and it looks like a big gargoyle like bat thing. [P1]

cryptid-wendigo:

[P 2] It has been going on since mid-july when reportedly the rural people of the municipality of Barceloneta drew the attention of the local news claiming that an ā€˜unknown creature’ has been killing their chicken (as you probably know, the chicken farming industry in PR is 100% organic and raised in small independent farms which took a bad hit with Hurricane Maria). Coincidentally, this very same thing happened after Hurricane George [P2]

[P3] So in both cases comparatively, twenty years ago, and recently, the target has been mostly chicken, and in both cases the ā€˜Gargola’ appears after a major hurricane such as was George ā€˜98 and Maria 2018. Some people even say that it inhabits a cave high in the mountain range where it supposedly has a spawn. This is has been the eye-witness account from various people, including a hunter. Other historically recorded events have been El Vampiro de Moca and La Gargola (2006)

I only heard about things happening in Puerto Rico just today. Thank you for all this information, wow! I didn’t know it has been going on for so long. Could you keep me updated if anything comes to light with it?

Black Angel of Iowa City

The sorrowful, eight-foot-tall statue watches diligently over the Feldevert family plot near the center of the cemetery, and according to the countless legends, if you fail to heed the warnings and touch the faded black figure, you will die, no questions asked.Ā

The elaborate statue was commissioned by Teresa Doleful Feldevert as a symbol of the sadness she had experienced during her life due to the loss of both her young son and husband. The angel, then a shimmering gold statue, was officially installed on November 21, 1912. When Teresa died in 1924, her ashes were brought to the grave and placed with her family members, and according to the legend, this is where things started to take a turn for the strange. A few years after Teresa’s passing, the bright golden statue suddenly began to turn black, starting with the eyes. Slowly, the blackness overtook the head of the angel and crept its way all the way down.

One of the most famous stories revolving around the Black Angel of Oakland Cemetery involves a young woman who visited the statue on a full moon and kissed her feet. Locals say that she dropped dead within six months. Another tale tells of a skeptical man who visited the statue with a group of friends, boasting about how he didn’t believe in the legends. His friends dared him to touch the statue, and when he did he died on the spot, victim of a massive heart attack. Even more morbid stories involve pregnant women who have miscarried after walking beneath the Black Angel’s wings. (Source)

OKAY STORYTIME HOES

So ive lived in IC for four years now, and I’ve been to this lovely thing a few times, but once on Halloween, I was invited to a reading of spooky stories that would take place at the statue. Before the reading, a friend and I walked around the graveyard and there were tons of deer everywhere. None of them moved, no matter how close her got.

Later, we all stood around with books of poetry and read stuff. One girl decided to pick a random page in one book and, sure enough, it was a poem about the black angel. She read it, and right away there was a huge gust of wind. And right after that? Two of the deer that were there came right up to the back of the statue and literally licked it before running off. Not exactly horrifying but definitely creepy. I visit her all the time.

There’s also a tombstone for someone named Donald Trumpp.

The Pasadena Suicide Bridge –

Since its construction in 1912 there have been over 100Ā suicidesĀ at the Colorado StreetĀ Bridge in Pasadena, California, earning it the nickname of Suicide Bridge. Over 50 of those deaths were during the Great Depression from 1930 to 1937. Today it has aĀ suicideĀ barrier which has reduced the number ofĀ suicides at the bridge but it still holds on to its nickname. According local urban legend, a worker fell off the bridge during its construction and into wet concrete. It was quick drying and he was left to die. Many believe that his ghost still haunts the bridge and that he is the reason why it has claimed so many lives, that his ghost urges people in crisis to take their own lives.Ā

Several spirits are said to haunt the Colorado Street Bridge, including a man with wire rimmed glasses and a woman in a long robe who disappears. The woman is often seen standing on top of one of the parapets, vanishing as she throws herself off. Ghosts have been seen walking the river bed under the bridge. Strange sounds and cries have been heard at night and semi transparentĀ apparitionsĀ have been seen in the area. One voice that is often heard at nightĀ is a female voice that whispers that something is ā€œher faultā€ to anyone passing by.Ā

Another ghost dates back to aĀ suicideĀ in 1937. Myrtle Ward, a 22 year old mother,Ā carried her baby to the bridge after being left by the baby’s father. She threw the baby off the bridge and then immediately jumped over herself so they could be together in the afterlife. In a twist of fate the baby landed in the branches of a nearby tree and was unharmed. Myrtle died, and her ghost has been seen wandering the bridge still searching for her baby.

I’ve passed this bridge when my sister used to work near there and the bridge really is beautiful. I’m almost tempted to go stand on it, but I know my mom would never let me cause ‘The devil might push me off or tempt me to jump’.

I’d prob be too weary to go anyway. Maybe. If u ask me, bridge seems almost cursed.
