I feel the need to warn those of you that use Kissanime that they are now apparently mass perma-banning anyone who uses adblock on their site. Any adblock too, it doesn’t matter which one. I just got permanently banned for going onto their homepage ONCE to see their popularity list for all of five seconds, and I don’t have an account so they’re full on banning IP’s.

If you use Kissanime, at this point, I’d highly recommend you move to another site. The fact that they are now forcing their malware ridden ads on people and banning anyone who attempts to protect their pc is outright absurd. Especially since it’s an illegal streaming site to begin with. I’d suggest you move to 9anime or another site altogether at this point. But If you simply want to take the risk, be sure to turn off adblock or face being perma-banned.

In my opinion, their site isn’t worth the hassle or the popups and shit rapidvideo player at this point.

Can confirm, I use ublock and I got banned for it.

Try 9anime if u want!

masterani is also rly good!!

I like to remind people that fireworks dont just affect PTSD in combat vets.

I have paranoid schizophrenia, severe anxiety and ptsd that has nkthing to do with combat or military and fireworks set me off too.

Be courteous of those around you, don’t set off in the street while in a busy town, and sstop blowing shit up at a reasonable time

Be smart about it. Be respectful. You can choose to set off fireworks – we don’t get to choose go have a psychotic attack or flashbacks or dissassociation ect.

4th of July PSA

im-an-octopus:

I’ve seen so many posts about firework safety and warnings to keep an eye on your pets, and I think that’s all very important, but I have yet to see a post about PTSD triggers.

As many of you know, PTSD can manifest itself in many ways, and some of the most common triggers tend to be loud noises and bright lights.

So basically, fireworks are hell for a lot of people suffering from PTSD.

What can you do to help?

-Home fireworks are illegal in a lot of states, but let’s face it
we all manage to get our hands on at least a few firecrackers or sparklers. If you live near someone who you know suffers, then find a place to set them off that’s our of earshot/eyeshot!

-If you know someone personally, make sure you check in with them. And not just the day of. Sit down with them beforehand. Have a talk. Ask them if there’s anything you can do to accommodate them. Make a plan for how to avoid triggers and what to do if something goes wrong.

-REMIND THE PERSON THAT IT IS OKAY. It’s unfortunate, but when it comes to mental illness, people can still consider it to be a weakness or a burden on others. Remind them that they should not be ashamed, their condition is completely valid, and you wouldn’t be offering to help if you didn’t care. Trauma is a very difficult, and very real thing that people have to live with. Make sure they know you understand that.

-Accommodate them. Don’t offer to help and then complain if they ask you to stay home with them and miss the fireworks that year. There will be other chances. The mental health of your loved ones should come before fireworks.

-Keep in mind: all types of people can experience PTSD from all types of traumas, their triggers can vary as well. However, when it comes to explosions and bright lights, the large majority of the people impacted have been involved in the military. I bring this up because The 4th of July is a day to celebrate freedom and independence. Something we would not have without those serving our country. It is because of them that we can continue to celebrate this holiday and they deserve to enjoy it as much as we do.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!

Attention Americans:

Be considerate with your 4th of July celebrations. Many of our neighbors are active military or Veterans and fireworks can and will trigger their PTSD. Many have signs in their yards, others will not.

anf for fuck’s sake, keep your pets safe inside, some get scared and start running then get lost, fireworks freaks them out. Give them a mild sedative if you must.

This is a reminder as the hot weather rolls in, to be cautious about walking your dogs in hot weather. Heatstroke is a real risk!

Take lots of water with you and try to avoid tarmac or pavemented areas. Shorten your walks, try to stick to dawn and dusk when it’s cooler and be especially careful with white dogs as they are more prone to damage caused by the sun.

Remember to test the pavement – if you struggle to hold the back of your hand against the pavement surface for 7 seconds it’s too hot for your dogs’ paws!

I swear to god if I see any more huskies being dragged along by their owners at 1pm in full midday 30°c sun I aM GOING TO SCREAM

If you would report an undocumented immigrant to ICE you would have reported me to the Nazis and I don’t fucking trust you

A note:

I live in a state where you “have to” report anyone you suspect of being undocumented (that wonderful hellhole of Arizona). Now in practice this law has fallen far short, thank goodness. But if you live in such a place and they start enforcing it, here is how you get around it:

Assume everyone who doesn’t speak English is visiting.

Never ask about their job, because if they tell you they work here then you know they’re not visiting. You see them a lot for several weeks or months? Hm. Someone in the family must be ill. That’s terribly tough. They always dress in old, ratty laborers’ clothes? I feel you, my dude, I can’t afford new clothes either, and my dad has the fashion sense of an aardvark, so sometimes it’s not even about “affording” them. They say they’ve been here for years? You must have misunderstood. Spanish isn’t your first language, after all. First and last name? It never came up, or you don’t recall–you meet a lot of people.

And then, if you’re asked: no, you haven’t seen anyone residing illegally in the United States. Just people visiting.

Very good very important addition

I don’t want to disappear without a forewarning.

As of July 4th 2018, the Internet as we know it might be dead for good.

The European Parliament is passing a new Copyright Directive.
Article 13 #CensorshipMachine will impose widespread censorship of all the content we share online. Art, fanfiction, parodies, remixes, mashups, memes, etc.. Anything that you do not hold the rights over will be taken down.

Article 13 would force all online platforms to police and prevent the uploading of copyrighted content, or make people seek the correct licenses to post that content. Internet platforms hosting large amounts of user-uploaded content must monitor user behaviour and filter their contributions to identify and prevent copyright infringement.

Such filters will be mandatory for platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit and Instagram, but also much smaller websites.

(x)

This doesn’t just affect Europe. The content creators you love are going to be in hot water for sharing their art and writing with you online. Any and all content that doesn’t belong to us will be filtered. Even memes are at risk, as the person who took the original photo may want to file complaints against any platform that allows it to be used without permission. But it goes even further than that.

image

Last Tuesday (19th June 2018) a group of more than 70 people who have played important roles in building the internet and developing it (Tim Berners-Lee, Vincent Cerf,

Jimmy Wales, Mitchell Baker
) into what it is today addressed an open letter to the members of the European Parliament:

“As creators ourselves, we share the concern that there should be a fair distribution of revenues from the online use of copyright works, that benefits creators, publishers, and platforms alike.

But Article 13 is not the right way to achieve this. By requiring Internet platforms to perform automatic filtering all of the content that their users upload, Article 13 takes an unprecedented step towards the transformation of the Internet from an open platform for sharing and innovation, into a tool for the automated surveillance and control of its users. [
] The damage that this may do to the free and open Internet as we know it is hard to predict, but in our opinions could be substantial.”

Here is the original Article 13. It’s even scarier. / Link 2

Europe is facing a huge problem, and unlike with Net Neutrality, the world doesn’t seem to care.

How to put “wrote fan-fiction” on your rĂ©sumĂ©:

Leveraged an inventory of established fictional character and setting elements to generate a disruptive custom-curated narrative entertainment asset.

I worked in HR, handling applications and interviews, and if someone turned in that string of techno babble nonsense, I would have rejected them out of hand.

A resume doesn’t need to sound fancy or overly technical, it needs to tell us why we should hire you.

“Independent novelist/writer” is more than sufficient here. If you want to express the skills that fan fiction taught you, something like, “creative writing, editing, and publication,” will get you a lot further than
 Whatever that just was.

A resume should be tailored to the position, if you can afford the time and energy for that. But if not, then just think about what writing got fandom taught you. How to respond to criticism, how to present a professional pubic face, how to correct punished mistakes, creative thinking, project planning, persuasion via emotional leverage, html formatting, office suite fluency.

There are a lot of actual, marketable skills that go into fan fiction.
