Hey, I was just wondering if you guys had any tips on finding out which type of therapy a person should go for?

psych2go:

We can only speak for the experiences we know from our country/countries, so it can differ depending in which healthcare system is most prevalent in your country. Also, in general as an answer to your question, the types of therapy available depend on what problems you are experiencing, i.e. to know what therapy you would benefit from most, depends you what you struggle with, but also on who you are and how you function. But it can be different depending on whether you go to a private therapists (v/ expensive) in one go, or go via the more often used channels. A very general process when getting therapy or professional help for the first time goes through a GP, general practitioner, family doctor or primary care physician. Basically, the medical professional you would go to when you first encounter an ailment. They will talk to you about what your main problems are, and then recommend what some of your options are (these can also vary a lot from city to city). Then you will hopefully be referred to one of those mental health professionals in your area, and together with them you will discuss what the most beneficial options for you would be.

Also, a general rule is that they can recommend one or more suitable institutions or programmes, but they cannot force you to go to a specific one, you should always have a say in it. So it’s well worth looking at what is available in your area.

A good way to do this is to use google and search for things like ‘mental health help [your main problem or struggle] in [your city]’ and see if any programmes are available that speak to you and sound like they would help. But it might happen that your diagnosis is more complex than you thought at first.

In any case, this answer is quite long, but it’s difficult to recommend things when these might not be available anywhere close to you, because not every specific thing is available everywhere.

Common options for PTSD include ‘talk therapy’, EMDR therapy, cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy etc.
Common options for anxiety include ‘talk therapy’ or ‘socratic dialogue therapy’ and cognitive behavioral therapy, or specific tailored programmes devised by anxiety or experts.

Hope this information helps, and we wish you all the best on your way to improvement!

Scrapped the old post as someone finally got me the source:
This is actually from the NEW Q&A Toriyama did. He covers a few things about the series, such as what exactly is needed to go Super Saiyan, how the Super Saiyan God fits into the series, and a little on Saiyan hierarchy.

The Super Saiyan bit is interesting to me. This explanation explains a few things, such as why it was easier for Vegeta to transform after having spent time on Earth (and after the whole Freeza vendetta was no longer eating at him) yet harder for him to achieve than Goku. Might be why he never managed to reach SSJ3. It also explains why Goten and Trunks managed to attain it so easily, and why the Universe 6 Saiyans are able to do so easily as well. Heck, given this description, it could even possibly be why Kale has a unique form.

The second bit is a bit of history on Super Saiyan God, how that’s the “Legendary Super Saiyan” referred to by Freeza and Saiyan legend (take THAT, Broly!) and on why the ritual was needed to first take the form. (Note: this actually flies in the face of Toyotaro having given Vegeta the form without need of said ritual, buuut
) Apparently the original who lead the rebellion against the Royal Family was a Saiyan named Yamoshi. Spin-off one-shot when?

And finally, on Saiyan hierarchy. Most of it is what we already knew, but the bit on Infiltration Babies and Engineers is interesting. It seems that Raditz, while considered a low-class warrior in terms of ranking, at least qualified to be a warrior. Goku was considered trash by Vegeta and Saiyan society in that, his power was deemed low enough that he was to be an outcast, likely either doomed to be in a support role, or sent off to become an infiltration baby, which is how Bardock got away with sending him off.

What’s interesting about that, however, is that it means the reason Raditz came to get him (and the reason he tried to force Goku to kill the people of Earth) was actually due to Goku’s tenure as an Infiltration Baby was intended to be a Trial by Combat. They’re sent to these planets to have to fight for survival and to carry out the cleansing of that world, and only then can they return to their homeworld a warrior. Raditz demanding Goku slaughter at least X amount of humans before coming with him was Raditz trying to enforce this rite of passage on his little brother.

So that’s some pretty interesting info, I think.

10 Tips To Think More Creatively

psych-facts:

1. Reframe The Problem or Phrase Question Differently

When we phrase a question or problem in a different light, we are more likely to find more solutions. We often look at things from a single angle preventing us from seeing all the possibilities.  Some ways to think more creatively for this are  to phrase the question differently or to put the problems in a different scenario.

2. Avoid Logical Thinking

Logical thinking can prevent us from innovative thoughts, because when we think logically we only use what we know. Creative ideas are built from what we do not know. To facilitate this process, you can look for inspirations from music, arts or people. Or you can use your dreams to come up with solutions. Studies show that dreams help us problem solve and one advantage is that dreams do not follow logic, but instead give us insights.

3. Avoid Following Rules

This point relates back to point 2, because we usually stick to rigid ideas or beliefs about how things work or should work. Instead, we should become more flexible and ask ourselves the question ‘what if?’ What if we tried?

IS CRIME ADDICTIVE? THE DARK SIDE OF PSYCHOLOGY

dailypsychologyfacts:

We all know of people who are utterly obsessed with true crime – those family members who somehow ALWAYS win Cluedo (but you’re convinced they rigged it)
they thrive in guessing who did it when watching a classic murder mystery
.some even go so far as to host murder mystery parties (hint hint, guys). As documentaries and Netflix shows have shown, it is an incredibly popular genre. Psychiatrist Dr. Sharon Packer explained the possible reasons as to why we are so interested in the psychology of evil.

OMG. This. Changes. Everything.

Reblogging for my followers who might have trouble remembering whether or not they’ve taken their medicine!

OH MY GOD, THIS WILL HELP ME SO MUCH. I GET SO SCARED WHEN I DON’T KNOW IF I JUST TOOK MY MEDS TWICE.

THANK YOU, I’M ABOUT TO CRY.

Let me share with you guys a product that super helps me remember if I took my meds or not (because while the above is great, I still would manage to confuse myself):

They count as soon as you put the top back on. So if I don’t know if I’ve taken my medication for the day, I can check the cap to see how long ago I opened the container! It’s brilliant!

JFC THIS IS A GAME CHANGER.

I KNOW THIS IS MY ART BLOG BUT EVERYONE WHO TAKES MEDS SHOULD SEE THIS.

Don’t forget! ♄

You can also use an app like Mango Health if that’s more your style! I like it cause you can set alarms and when they go off, you have the choice of taking it, snoozing it, or skipping the dose, and if you don’t choose one of those it will automatically snooze and keep reminding you until you take it or skip it! It also shows a log of when you took what meds each day, and lists information about your logged meds (including OTC stuff and vitamins) as well as interactions.

ladies and gentlemen we have officially reached the “in case a nuclear attack happens” phase

. [x]

This shit is wild.

There should be an amber alert or something to warn us, hopefully. But if you’re so close to the blast that the entire outside flashes white your first priority is to get underneath the blastwave any way you can.

After that you have 2 options: drive away or protect yourself from the radiation.

Option one is tough because literally everybody else is going to want to do this, and you could get stuck right in the fallout. And lemme tell you, if you’re stuck out there when the ashes first fall for more than 15 minutes, you’re dead. Radiation poisoning.

Option two is harder, but has a better success rate. Get underground. Most houses have a crawlspace, but in this bad time just saw a fucking hole in your floor. Put table over hole. Pack some large containers (like tubs), with dirt, tight, and stack them on your table or wherever you’re going to be directly underneath. you need 36 inches if dirt to be protected from the radiation poisoning. You could preemptively buy lead and stick that in a container with a lot of serface area, i forget how many inches you need vertically.

How ever much serface area the dirt/metal/lead covers is how much you and your party will be able to move around. As long as there’s enough inches vertically you’ll be good so long as you stay under it.

You gotta stay under there for at least 2 weeks, 3 to be sure.

Also, if you can see the mushroom cloud, stick your arm out as far as you can. Do a thumbs-up and close one eye. If your thumb is bigger than the cloud, you are safe. If the cloud is bigger or the same size as your thumb, then that means you are in the radiation zone and should evacuate immediately.

I cannot believe I actually have to freaking reblog this but here y’all go just in case

Now here’s something cool! What you see above is fresh an salt water mixing in a cave. Fresh water is on the top giving the illusion that it’s air. You can look through my bizarre world tag. I compile all the most interesting posts there!

Imagine seeing the water ripples above you and taking off your scuba gear so you can breathe the air above you and then inhaling a bunch of water.

I should add that to my horror story tag.

Actually they’re are several drownings caused by exactly that! It is one of the reasons underwater caves are so dangerous.

This is terrifying.
