Okay can yall reblog this to share something thatâs actually helpful? There are two websites that can assist people with triggers to know whether or not a movie is going to be something they should avoid. The first one is:
Originally created to list whether or not the animals in movies were harmed, it has expanded to list a number of triggering things like people being cut, jumpscares, strobe effects, vomit, deaths of children, and many more. For some categories it links to:
which has a similar format to Does the Dog Die but deals with a variety of sexual themes. It even elaborates on some of the checked categories just to let you know how serious or in what way the category is expressed in the movie.
I donât like the environment of tumblr scaring people into thinking they donât have the help or resources they need to live happy and without anxiety unless the right PSA floats across their dash. If there are any other databases anyone knows of that provide more info about media or elaborate upon MPAA ratings, please comment. Let 2018 be a year of empowerment.
Scrapped the old post as someone finally got me the source: This is actually from the NEW Q&A Toriyama did. He covers a few things about the series, such as what exactly is needed to go Super Saiyan, how the Super Saiyan God fits into the series, and a little on Saiyan hierarchy.
The Super Saiyan bit is interesting to me. This explanation explains a few things, such as why it was easier for Vegeta to transform after having spent time on Earth (and after the whole Freeza vendetta was no longer eating at him) yet harder for him to achieve than Goku. Might be why he never managed to reach SSJ3. It also explains why Goten and Trunks managed to attain it so easily, and why the Universe 6 Saiyans are able to do so easily as well. Heck, given this description, it could even possibly be why Kale has a unique form.
The second bit is a bit of history on Super Saiyan God, how thatâs the âLegendary Super Saiyanâ referred to by Freeza and Saiyan legend (take THAT, Broly!) and on why the ritual was needed to first take the form. (Note: this actually flies in the face of Toyotaro having given Vegeta the form without need of said ritual, buuutâŠ) Apparently the original who lead the rebellion against the Royal Family was a Saiyan named Yamoshi. Spin-off one-shot when?
And finally, on Saiyan hierarchy. Most of it is what we already knew, but the bit on Infiltration Babies and Engineers is interesting. It seems that Raditz, while considered a low-class warrior in terms of ranking, at least qualified to be a warrior. Goku was considered trash by Vegeta and Saiyan society in that, his power was deemed low enough that he was to be an outcast, likely either doomed to be in a support role, or sent off to become an infiltration baby, which is how Bardock got away with sending him off.
Whatâs interesting about that, however, is that it means the reason Raditz came to get him (and the reason he tried to force Goku to kill the people of Earth) was actually due to Gokuâs tenure as an Infiltration Baby was intended to be a Trial by Combat. Theyâre sent to these planets to have to fight for survival and to carry out the cleansing of that world, and only then can they return to their homeworld a warrior. Raditz demanding Goku slaughter at least X amount of humans before coming with him was Raditz trying to enforce this rite of passage on his little brother.
So thatâs some pretty interesting info, I think. (Source 1) (Source 2)
We all know of people who are utterly obsessed with true crime â those family members who somehow ALWAYS win Cluedo (but youâre convinced they rigged it)âŠthey thrive in guessing who did it when watching a classic murder mysteryâŠ.some even go so far as to host murder mystery parties (hint hint, guys). As documentaries and Netflix shows have shown, it is an incredibly popular genre. Psychiatrist Dr. Sharon Packer explained the possible reasons as to why we are so interested in the psychology of evil.
Reblogging for my followers who might have trouble remembering whether or not theyâve taken their medicine!
OH MY GOD, THIS WILL HELP ME SO MUCH. I GET SO SCARED WHEN I DONâT KNOW IF I JUST TOOK MY MEDS TWICE.
THANK YOU, IâM ABOUT TO CRY.
Let me share with you guys a product that super helps me remember if I took my meds or not (because while the above is great, I still would manage to confuse myself):
They count as soon as you put the top back on. So if I donât know if Iâve taken my medication for the day, I can check the cap to see how long ago I opened the container! Itâs brilliant!Â
JFC THIS IS A GAME CHANGER.
I KNOW THIS IS MY ART BLOG BUT EVERYONE WHO TAKES MEDS SHOULD SEE THIS.
Donât forget! â„ïž
You can also use an app like Mango Health if thatâs more your style! I like it cause you can set alarms and when they go off, you have the choice of taking it, snoozing it, or skipping the dose, and if you donât choose one of those it will automatically snooze and keep reminding you until you take it or skip it! It also shows a log of when you took what meds each day, and lists information about your logged meds (including OTC stuff and vitamins) as well as interactions.
ladies and gentlemen we have officially reached the âin case a nuclear attack happensâ phaseâŠâŠ. [x]
This shit is wild.
There should be an amber alert or something to warn us, hopefully. But if youâre so close to the blast that the entire outside flashes white your first priority is to get underneath the blastwave any way you can.
After that you have 2 options: drive away or protect yourself from the radiation.
Option one is tough because literally everybody else is going to want to do this, and you could get stuck right in the fallout. And lemme tell you, if youâre stuck out there when the ashes first fall for more than 15 minutes, youâre dead. Radiation poisoning.
Option two is harder, but has a better success rate. Get underground. Most houses have a crawlspace, but in this bad time just saw a fucking hole in your floor. Put table over hole. Pack some large containers (like tubs), with dirt, tight, and stack them on your table or wherever youâre going to be directly underneath. you need 36 inches if dirt to be protected from the radiation poisoning. You could preemptively buy lead and stick that in a container with a lot of serface area, i forget how many inches you need vertically.
How ever much serface area the dirt/metal/lead covers is how much you and your party will be able to move around. As long as thereâs enough inches vertically youâll be good so long as you stay under it.
You gotta stay under there for at least 2 weeks, 3 to be sure.
Also, if you can see the mushroom cloud, stick your arm out as far as you can. Do a thumbs-up and close one eye. If your thumb is bigger than the cloud, you are safe. If the cloud is bigger or the same size as your thumb, then that means you are in the radiation zone and should evacuate immediately.
I cannot believe I actually have to freaking reblog this but here y’all go just in case
Now hereâs something cool! What you see above is fresh an salt water mixing in a cave. Fresh water is on the top giving the illusion that itâs air. You can look through my bizarre world tag. I compile all the most interesting posts there!
Imagine seeing the water ripples above you and taking off your scuba gear so you can breathe the air above you and then inhaling a bunch of water.
I wish that ao3 had an option to filter warnings (and tbh certain authors) out like I will never ever want to read it and just seeing it puts me off so much that often I end up closing my browser because that content upsets me so much lmao
There is a way to do this but I canât recall how to do it. itâs something you type into the box for âother filtersâ or something, I donât remember. who knows??
Itâs not a great option, and I donât know if you can sort out authors that way, but itâs better than nothing if someone can reblog this with how to do it!
Alrighty friends! It takes some specificity, but you can do this. Let me show you how!
So I started with going to the Sherlock (TV) section of Ao3. On the right we find this lovely section! ((I know Iâm going over things you already probably know, but I figure this post may go to new Ao3 users, so bear with me.))
Underneath this, I chose sort by Kudos, because thatâs a quick way to find most popular fics, for the sake of this demonstration.Â
With those filters on, we end up with this being our first two results:Â
As you can see, we have Nature and Nurture by earlgreytea68, and The Internet Is Not Just For Porn by cyerus. So what if I am utterly sick of seeing earlgreytea68 on my list? Letâs pretend Iâve read all their fics, or that I just donât like her, or whatever. I want this author out. I go to this section on the right:Â
In âSearch within resultsâ I type earlgreytea68 into the bar, with a minus sign in front. This gives me the following page, upon hitting the sort and filter button:
There goes earlgreytea68! But now Iâve decided that Crack is just not my thing, Iâm sick of that, too, for heavenâs sake, I want something reasonable in my gay slash fanfiction about detectives that solve crimes about glowing dogs and irish megalomaniacs. Heaven forbid this get ridiculous.
Well, then I add this to my search:
Which gets rid of everything with that tag. My results are now:
Performance in a Leading Role is now my first result!
You can do this as many times as you want; the biggest problem I have is trying to filter out multi-worded tags. For example, âSecret Relationshipâ is hard to filter. Better to go with authors you dislike or with words like âDubConâ.Â
I hope this helps! Also remember that googling site:archiveofourown.org and then adding search terms will mean google searches Ao3 for you, and sometimes that works far better.Â
Good luck!
An excellent in-depth guide! Thank you!!
omg changed my whole ao3 rarepair game
An excellent guide to filtering on AO3!
You can filter out phrases by enclosing them in quotes. For example, if ABO and Hydra Trash Party are not your things, try:
Say, youâre in your random fandom- I went with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since Iâve been reading Iron Man stuff recently. Tony Stark is awesome.
But anyway, youâre on the page, and you see that there are 174,774 works! That is way too many for a casual afternoonâs browsing.
And you see that the first one is Peter Parker/Tony Stark and that is not your jam. It doesnât work for you, or it squicks you, whatever. Wouldnât life be easier if you could browse without seeing that pairing (or whatever pairing you donât like)? You can!
First, click on that pairing tag(You may want to open this in another tab, actually.):
and itâll take you to the page for that pairing tag. Click this button:
and then look at the address bar! The actual page is unimportant. Copy the numbers located here:
and go back to the original search page! Down on the side, in the same place you can get rid of other tags, type -relationship_ids:âthe number you just copiedâ
Then hit âsort and filterâ annnd⊠magic!
The fics with that pairing are gone! You can also do multiple pairings, get rid of any tags you donât like, and sort it by date or length or kudos, or whatever.
Enjoy.
AO3rdr is a Firefox, Chrome, and Opera extension that blacklists without you having to fill in the âsearch within resultsâ field every time!
