Psychiatry and counseling are popular career paths for people with a psychology degree (Cherry, 2016). This includes job titles like clinical psychologist, health psychologist, and sport psychologist.
If you are not interested in pursuing these typical career paths, there are plenty of other industries that hire psychology graduates. If youāre interested in marketing, for example, you can go into market researching or become a data analyst at a commercial organization.
These are some jobs that might appeal to you as a psychology graduate:
Social worker
Social workers help people cope with and solve problems in their everyday lives. They specifically help vulnerable children and families who are in need of assistance. Clinical social workers also help diagnose and treat mental, behavioral, and emotional issues. Learn more on how to become a social worker here.
Probation and parole officer
Probation officers and parole officers have similar jobs, but there is one key difference. A probation officer handles people who are sentenced to serve probation instead of being put in prison. A parole officer, on the other hand, handlesā¦
I did this last year and inexplicably turned out to be eligible for Medicaid in WV, which I STILL have. Absolute and total lifechanger thatās letting me go to school instead of having to work full time.Ā
Signal boost for GamePhobias, a wiki-style website dedicated to categorizing games based on content and trigger warnings. Users can either view content warning categories to find games that do and donāt contain the triggering content, or search for specific games to see exactly what content warnings are attached to that title (as well as brief, almost exclusively non-graphic descriptions as to specific scenes/levels containing that content).
Itās a very, very new wiki (IIRC it launched late August) and so its offerings are very paltry right now, and I would seriously encourage anyone with experience with games, wikis, and/or both to contribute however they can.
Iām writing up a review for FFXIV right now, and I seriously encourage anyone who can do this to help out!! This is SUPER helpful to people with triggers and Iām going to use it in the future.
Donāt ignore this, I know gamer culture doesnāt care about mentally ill people but you guys should try to be better than that.
I donāt really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so Iām just calling it āLetter Shapingā because youāre using the basic shapes from certain letters. This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creativeĀ way, and thatās what I like so much about this method. Thereās a lot of freedom and personalization involved.
After spending a week with the 6.25āx10ā Monoprice, my Yiynova and Cintiq remain unplugged and I gave my Intuos away to a friend. The Monoprice tracks subtle pressure variances and small movements with less lag and more crisp fidelity than any of the others. It is, put crudely, fucking awesome, in both OSX Lion and Windows 7 x64.
I have one of these, 10×6.5 I bought about two months ago for 48 bucks. Itās a billion times better than my old Wacom Bamboo and works like a fuckin dream.
ATTENTION ALL PENNY-PINCHING ART FRIENDS!!!
ooo reblogging this for potential future purchase
oh
Iām definitely thinking of getting one of these, or asking for one for Christmas. āCause as much as I appreciate Ian giving me his old tablet, I think the pen might be on itās last legs. ;~;
Oh my god these start at $25 for a little one.
I would be so okay with a little one.
Reblogging this again because I fucking lost it and donāt want to forget it again.
ik i donāt usually reblog this kinda stuff but man i aināt got money and this is important
ALSO!!!!!! if any other artists out there canāt find a good art program for free/cheap, autodesk sketchbook pro is now FREE, and has been for a while! itās what i use to make all of my art!
how have i never heard of archive.orgĀ until today.. itās an internet library that functions just like a real one, as in you borrow the books for 2 weeks and then they are returned to the archive. you can dl pdfs as well, but youāll lose access after the 2 week period. itās all free tho, literally just like a real library. i was searching for a cheap copy of this serial murder book from the 90s for my thesis and i found it for free on here. thereās like.. no gimmick at all? iām so amazed. i literally just signed up and now iām reading a super hq scan of this book for free. i love libraries.
I feel the need to warn those of you that use Kissanime that they are now apparently mass perma-banning anyone who uses adblock on their site. Any adblock too, it doesnāt matter which one. I just got permanently banned for going onto their homepage ONCE to see their popularity list for all of five seconds, and I donāt have an account so theyāre full on banning IPās.
If you use Kissanime, at this point, Iād highly recommend you move to another site. The fact that they are now forcing their malware ridden ads on people and banning anyone who attempts to protect their pc is outright absurd. Especially since itās an illegal streaming site to begin with. Iād suggest you move to 9anime or another site altogether at this point. But If you simply want to take the risk, be sure to turn off adblock or face being perma-banned.
In my opinion, their site isnāt worth the hassle or the popups and shit rapidvideo player at this point.
Can confirm, I use ublock and I got banned for it.
So say Iāve found a great song on Tumblr that I just canāt live without and need on my phone. Today our example is an MP3 of every time the name Hamilton is said in Hamilton the Musical because thatās the kind of quality content I want on my phone. I digress,
1. To start out, find your song:Ā
2. Next, right click on the song and click onĀ Inspect. (Use Google Chrome)
3. This will open up a tool bar along the bottom that developers use for stuff. What you want to do is click on the NetworkĀ tab and then the button that says Media. If you donāt click on media you will get a whole bunch of other stuff that you donāt really need.Ā
4. Next, play the song and it will pop up in the panel. Right click on it and click Open Link in New Tab.Ā
5. This will take you to a new tab that is essentially the MP3 able to be played through your browser (Google Chrome). Right click around the song until you get a drop down list of commands and click Save As. Finally, enter what you want to save the file as. It will download and you can drag it into iTunes.Ā
And voila, now Iām a proud owner of every time Hamilton is said in Hamilton the Musical. Pretty cool, huh? This is great for downloading weird edits that people do, another one I considered for the example was Itās Quiet Uptown Funk. š
This also works for the Empty Theatre edits someone made btw, itās the same process.Ā
Leveraged an inventory of established fictional character and setting elements to generate a disruptive custom-curated narrative entertainment asset.
I worked in HR, handling applications and interviews, and if someone turned in that string of techno babble nonsense, I would have rejected them out of hand.
A resume doesnāt need to sound fancy or overly technical, it needs to tell us why we should hire you.
āIndependent novelist/writerā is more than sufficient here. If you want to express the skills that fan fiction taught you, something like, ācreative writing, editing, and publication,ā will get you a lot further than⦠Whatever that just was.
A resume should be tailored to the position, if you can afford the time and energy for that. But if not, then just think about what writing got fandom taught you. How to respond to criticism, how to present a professional pubic face, how to correct punished mistakes, creative thinking, project planning, persuasion via emotional leverage, html formatting, office suite fluency.
There are a lot of actual, marketable skills that go into fan fiction.
