567. That feeling of trying to explain to non-slytherins about valuing friends and acquaintances based on their usefulness to you and getting misunderstood as intending to use them up rather than use them well, being mistaken for not caring about them

Talk to me about Slytherins
Slytherins who are ambitious, and yet lazy as hell. Slytherins who have so many ambitions that they wallow in despair while trying to choose one. Slytherins who get anxiety when they feel like they won’t be able to achieve their dreams. Slytherins who will cut a bitch if they try to interfere with their long term goals. Slytherins who, when given a task will go to the ends of he’ll to achieve it, but with no purpose will sit around doing nothing all day long. Slytherins who hide their social anxiety by being the snarkiest, most sarcastic person they can be…and yet being the softest most caring person with their best friend (slytherpuff for the win) (still don’t lose their snark tho)
Slytherins who support the underdog in a team because they know what it feels like to be the weak link, and goddamn if they let anyone else feel like that. Slytherins who get only four hours of sleep because they have so much to do so they can go ahead and achieve their dreams
Just…Slytherins, man
The Houses’ Dream Apartments
Hufflepuff:Â
Someplace with plenty of light / Small just means cosy! / Cacti are always appreciated / A bed with plenty of pillows and cushions, so that it’s extra cosy if friends come to visit / It’s not about having loads of books and music, but a chosen few that they love makes it feel like homeÂ
Gryffindor:
Framed posters of their favourite bands and films / A colour scheme is important, but they’re not against clashing / Has to be large enough for people to visit / They like colourful lamps / Bits and pieces to remind them of good memories (a photo here, a snow globe there) / Storage space for clothes and the stuff they can’t be bothered to throw out
Ravenclaw:
It needs to be quiet / So that they can fill the silence with their favourite music / The feel is more important than the look / But a wall of bookshelves would still look amazing / Plenty of vinyl records stacked up / And a good armchair to muse in / Their own art on the wall and their own mess on the floor
Slytherin:
They may try to make it look all cool, but we know their bed is one of the snuggliest / Enough candles to look like a sĂ©ance / A good mirror / Long, flowy curtains – because they look dramatic as hell and are great at blocking out unwanted sunlight / Slightly kooky objects make everything look so much coolerÂ
547. Slytherins are the people who always ask what the class average of the test was. That’s the real way to gauge how well you did
Either I will find a way, or I will make one.
533. Slytherins who have a ridiculous number of email accounts that they only set up to get another online free trial
SLYTHERIN:
“If it feels good,
tastes good,
it must be mine.”–Panic! at the Disco (Emperor’s New Clothes)
SLYTHERIN: “I know my value. Anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.” –Michele Fazekas + Tara Butters (Peggy Carter: Agent Carter: Valediction)
happy #slytherinpride day everybody!!
@tropic-of-calculus requested a post about slytherins being perfectionists.
–
Slytherins tend to be perfectionists, mostly due to their pride. They refuse to produce work that they aren’t proud of and that doesn’t represent them well. Especially when it’s work done for the sake of people they care about. Their loyalty to their loved ones and their pride come together into a perfect storm of over achieving and working tirelessly to churn out the best results that they can. This can be incredibly frustrating and draining, especially when the results of their work don’t reach their absurdly high standards. Slytherins have a nasty habit of holding themselves to standards far higher than anyone else holds them to. When something they’ve works hard for doesn’t turn out the way that they intend, or isn’t good enough for them, they come down on themselves hard. This often takes two forms; self deprecation and working even harder. That quickly turns into a slytherin working even harder, stretching themselves even thinner, and burning out. Luckily, slytherins have the loved ones around them that are able to pull them back a little bit. Their hufflepuff friends remind them to rest and drink lots of water. Ravenclaws offer their own input on the project, helping divide the work and take some of the weight off the slytherin’s shoulders. Gryffindors make them stop working all together, challenging them to some ridiculous game and forcing them to step away. These strategies don’t always work, slytherins can be rather obstinate when they want to be and will dig their heels when forced to do something. Though, they tend to recognize the helping hand and accept it, silently grateful. Their friensds are always there to remind them that they’ve worked hard, they’ve worked enough, and the work their doing is valued.Â
